| Downloading and Installing Tips |
| Acquiring full access to IFG Packages is a two step process. Which step is completed first is not important. |
| Step 1 - Download the Package you want to view to your machine. |
| Step 2 - Order a password to allow access to the Package you downloaded. |
| About downloading the Package you are interested in viewing |
| Each IFG Package has it own page on this web site (The Education Package, The Credit Improvement Package, and The Garage Sale Handbook). To download a Package, go it's page and click on the "Click Here to Download This Package" link. A window will open allowing you to select the folder or directory on your computer to download your Package into. Make note of the folder where the Package is being saved! This window will also allow you to rename the Package (file). Don't rename it! Click on "Save" in this window and your download will begin. Packages are typically less than 500 Kilobytes and the download time will be brief. |
| About acquiring passwords |
| IFG Packages are password protected, self-extracting zip
files. A zip file is a file that has been compressed for quicker transmission
over a network and to use less storage space. It must be "unzipped"
or decompressed before use. A self-extracting zip file is a file that will
"unzip" (decompress) itself without the need for an external decompression
program. A password protected zip file requires a password before it can
be unzipped. You can order the password needed to unzip a Package from the page describing the Package by clicking on one of the icons near the bottom of the page. One icon is for credit card orders using our secure server and you will receive your password immediately. Another icon is for orders by email using PayPal's service and the remaining icon is for orders by snail mail. |
| About installing the Package you downloaded |
| After downloading
your Package and purchasing your password, use "File Manager"
(Win3.1) or "Explorer" (Win95 and up), and double click on a Package
you downloaded, EDUCATE.EXE for example. A window will open allowing you
to select the disk and folder this Package unzips to. C:\IFG-INC\EDUCATE
(for example) is suggested in this window automatically, and beginners should
not change it, simply click the "Unzip" button. A second window
opens over the first, enter the password associated with the Package
you are unzipping and click "OK". Each Package requires a
unique password so if you order more than one password, be sure to use the
password associated with the Package you are unzipping. Also, you must be very explicit when entering the password because "UPPER" and "lower" case matters, as well as special characters (~`!@#$%^&*-_=+[]{}\|'";:,<.>/?). Type your password EXACTLY as received! After you receive a message indicating all files have been extracted, close all of the windows associated with the Unzip program and your installation is complete. |
| About using IFG Packages |
| IFG packages unzip themselves to unique folders by default for your convenience. For example, the Education Package unzips to C:\IFG-INC\EDUCATE and the Credit Improvement Package unzips to C:\IFG-INC\CREDIT. After unzipping, each IFG "sub-folder" will contain a file named START followed by a number, examples are START1.HTM or START2.HTM. Simply double clicking on any of these "Start" files from "File Manager" or "Explorer" will start your web browser and present you with a menu of the various files included in your Package. Click on the name of the file you wish to review. |
| About cleanup |
| After successfully installing your Package and trying it out, we suggest deleting the original file you downloaded (EDUCATE.EXE for example), to conserve space on your hard disk. |
